A vibrant new exhibition featuring characters from the beloved children’s show Sesame Street is coming to South Yarra, thanks to Melbourne artist David Bromley. This collaboration marks Bromley as the first Australian painter to partner with the iconic brand.
The exhibition, which has taken 18 months to develop in Bromley’s studios in Windsor and Daylesford, showcases his renowned large-scale artworks as well as unique ceramics and surfboards embellished with familiar faces like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie, and Big Bird.
Bromley expressed his enthusiasm about the project, remarking that his immediate response to the offer was “yes,” and his deep involvement led him to feel as if he had become a Sesame Street character himself. The exhibition opens its doors this Friday and will run for six weeks at Bromley’s gallery in South Yarra. Gallery co-owner Yuge Bromley described the collection as a “kaleidoscope of colour and cacophony,” reflecting the energetic spirit of the characters.
Visitors can expect to be enveloped by nostalgia as they view the artworks, which evoke warm childhood memories. Following its launch in Melbourne, the exhibition is set to travel across Australia, with all pieces available for purchase.
This exciting display is sure to resonate with fans of all ages and breathe new life into the timeless characters of Sesame Street.
