A significant manhunt is currently taking place across Queensland for a gunman who has been at large for over a week. The suspect, John Durham Willey, is believed to be armed and is reportedly hiding somewhere in the region. Authorities indicate that he was involved in a shooting incident in Cairns and was spotted near Rockhampton just yesterday. Police are urgently appealing to the public for assistance in locating him.

Willey was last seen entering bushland, and law enforcement has cautioned that he should not be approached if encountered. In a related development, a 47-year-old woman believed to be Willey’s accomplice was discovered by police yesterday on a roadside north of Rockhampton. The two were involved in a car crash, leading to a six-hour lockdown of the area as police conducted searches.

Inside the vehicle, officials reportedly found firearms and ammunition. Willey, aged 45, is also under suspicion for a recent shooting in Cairns, where he allegedly entered a Manunda hotel, shot a 45-year-old man in the leg, and then fled the scene. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Willey to the police.
