A suspicious factory fire in Tullamarine, north-west Melbourne, is currently under investigation by police. The blaze erupted around 3am today after a car was driven into the two-storey, 350-square-metre building, leading to extensive damage.

Over 80 firefighters responded to the emergency and successfully brought the flames under control. Fortunately, no one was inside the factory at the time of the incident. In addition to extinguishing the fire, crews worked to secure nearby gas outlets and power lines, ensuring public safety during the operation.

Residents living within a 2km radius have been warned about significant smoke in the vicinity, while motorists are advised to steer clear of the area due to anticipated local traffic disruptions in the coming hours.

Police have established a crime scene as they continue to investigate, and an arson chemist is expected to arrive later today to assist with the inquiry. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage related to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
