A man has been taken into custody following the discovery of a deceased woman at a property in south-west Victoria. Police conducted a welfare check at a residence along the Henty Highway in Hamilton, approximately 300 kilometres west of Melbourne, at around 7.30pm last night.
Upon their arrival, officers found the woman, who has not yet been officially identified, dead at the scene. Subsequent searches of the area led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man from the local vicinity. Authorities have indicated that he will be questioned shortly regarding the incident.
The Homicide Squad is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Investigators believe there was a prior acquaintance between the man and the woman, although the exact cause of her demise remains unknown.
