Police are conducting an investigation following an alleged random attack on a man in North Sydney last night. The incident occurred while the man was walking along Mount Street, where CCTV footage captured him passing another individual going in the opposite direction. Suddenly, the assailant reportedly turned and struck the victim in the jaw, knocking him to the ground.

Bystanders immediately rushed to assist the victim. A witness recounted their experience, stating, “I was coming down the stairs and heard someone screaming. When I arrived, I found a man on the floor with another man on top of him, yelling. A few of us quickly gathered around to help.”

After the attack, the alleged offender left the scene but not before reportedly threatening a group of girls. Witnesses conveyed that the victim appeared bewildered, questioning what had transpired. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

Law enforcement apprehended the 44-year-old suspect after a struggle, and he too was taken to the hospital. As of the afternoon, no charges had been formally laid against him. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities gather more details about the incident.
