Officers from Queensland Police were dispatched to a residence on Akebia Street in Arana Hills earlier today for a welfare check. At approximately 12:30pm AEST, an attempt was made to engage with a man at the property, during which an altercation ensued, resulting in the man being shot. Police provided immediate first aid until medical assistance arrived, and the man was subsequently transported to hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established at the location, and the investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Ethical Standards Command. The situation will also be under the review of the Crime and Corruption Commission, as per standard procedures in such cases.
