A 24-year-old man has sustained severe injuries after being attacked while jogging in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The incident occurred when the young man was on his usual run and was reportedly ambushed by an unknown assailant, suffering a stab wound to his abdomen along with cuts to his neck and chin.

Bystanders at a nearby service station rushed to assist him, applying pressure to his wounds and promptly contacting emergency services. Paramedics arrived approximately seven minutes later, while the man’s parents, who had accompanied him to an Anzac Day dawn service earlier that morning, arrived at the scene visibly distressed by the situation.

An employee at the service station described the scene as shocking and expressed their confusion over how the attack unfolded. It is reported that the attack took place outside a pizza shop on Spring Street, from where the jogger managed to run over 150 metres to the service station, leaving a trail of blood in his wake.

The young man’s family shared that he had been enjoying a leisurely jog following the dawn service, pointing to the sudden and violent nature of the assault as particularly traumatic. The community remains shaken by the incident, highlighting concerns about safety in local areas.
