A man in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs has been charged after allegedly spitting on a police officer during his arrest. The incident took place around 8pm in a car park on Bond Street, Ringwood, where police were alerted to a man running through traffic and reportedly assaulting bystanders. Upon their arrival, the individual allegedly directed spit at one of the officers, leading to his swift arrest. The 26-year-old from Ringwood has been formally charged with assault and is scheduled to appear at Ringwood Magistrates Court on May 12.
