A tragic incident in Sydney’s south-west has resulted in the death of a man following an alleged hit-and-run. The emergency services were alerted to the scene on Junction Road in Leumeah shortly after 10am this morning, responding to reports of a collision.

Upon their arrival, police discovered that a 46-year-old man had been struck by a Mitsubishi sedan as he was exiting another vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the sedan fled the scene after the accident.

Emergency medical personnel provided immediate assistance to the injured man, who was subsequently transported to Liverpool Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities established a crime scene to facilitate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of their inquiries, police located the Mitsubishi vehicle at a nearby sports facility, leading to the arrest of a 77-year-old woman in connection with the incident. She was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing.

At this stage, no charges have been filed against her, and police are appealing to anyone with additional information regarding the crash to come forward and assist with their investigation.
