Emergency services responded to a collision around 3.20am near Gavail Creek at Port Curtis, involving a truck travelling north and a car heading south. Reports indicate that the truck overturned and caught fire at the scene. Tragically, the car’s driver did not survive the incident. Fortunately, the truck’s driver sustained only minor injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital for evaluation.
As a result of the crash, diversions have been implemented on the Bruce Highway, with portions of the road closed to facilitate the investigation. The Forensic Crash Unit is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the accident, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
