A 35-year-old man has been fined over $1000 after allegedly riding a Lime e-bike against traffic on Sydney’s Anzac Bridge. Dashcam footage aired by 9News captured the cyclist navigating towards oncoming cars, causing vehicles to brake sharply. The rider was seen travelling west across the bridge, prompting serious concerns about safety.

Transport for NSW’s Bernard Carlon deemed the cyclist’s actions “irresponsible and dangerous,” emphasising the risk not only to himself but also to motorists. Police confirmed they had contacted the individual, who has been accused of riding in the wrong direction, failing to wear a helmet, and negligent riding. He received three infringement notices but was not formally charged.

Transport for NSW urged against such reckless behaviour, highlighting the alarming statistic that five cyclists have lost their lives this year, with more than 1800 hospital admissions related to biking incidents in the previous year.
