Man Faces Murder Charge Following Alleged Home Invasion in Sydney’s West

In the early hours of Saturday, March 8, police responded to reports of a home invasion on Union Road, Penrith. Upon arrival, they learned that two individuals had allegedly broken into a unit and assaulted a 60-year-old man. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the victim’s condition worsened, and he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following the incident, a joint investigation was launched involving local authorities and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. In a swift operation, detectives apprehended a 36-year-old male on Paton Street in Merrylands. He was subsequently taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with murder and aggravated break and enter. The accused was denied bail and was set to appear in Parramatta Local Court later that day.

Additionally, police conducted searches at a residence on Ivy Street in Toongabbie as part of their investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to step forward to assist in the ongoing case.
