A 55-year-old man has been charged with murder in Queensland following the death of a woman while they were kayaking on Lake Samsonvale in November 2020. The victim, who was 54 years old and known to the suspect, tragically fell into the water during their outing, leading to her drowning.
Witnesses and emergency services attempted to resuscitate her when she was retrieved from the water, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially, authorities did not suspect foul play; however, after thorough investigations led by detectives and a coroner, this assumption was changed.
The man, who was visiting Brisbane from Thailand at the time of his arrest, is alleged to be implicated in her death. He has now been charged with domestic violence murder, fraud, and attempted fraud. Following his arrest, he was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
