A man from Queensland has been charged following an alleged assault on a flight crew member at Perth Airport. The incident occurred on July 14, just as a flight was preparing for departure to Brisbane. The 59-year-old passenger reportedly disregarded instructions from a crew member to take his seat, as he was keen to use the bathroom.
In a subsequent altercation, the man allegedly pushed the crew member. The situation escalated, prompting the flight captain to inform authorities and request the passenger’s removal from the aircraft. Upon arrival, officers from the Australian Federal Police apprehended the man and escorted him off the plane.
He now faces a charge for assaulting a crew member, which in Western Australia carries a potential penalty of up to 14 years in prison. The man is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
