A distressing situation unfolded when a man alerted police around 6pm, reporting that his boat was taking on water. In response, Water Police and the Police Air Wing initiated a search operation despite challenging visibility conditions.
By 11pm, the search had located the man sitting on the overturned hull of his vessel. A marine rescue team was promptly deployed to the site and successfully retrieved him from the water. Fortunately, the man was wearing a life jacket and sustained no injuries during the ordeal.
Once brought to safety by Fremantle Marine Rescue, he was reunited with his concerned family. In light of this incident, authorities have emphasised the vital importance of always wearing life jackets and having a registered, updated Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) with GPS tracking. These measures can significantly enhance safety and facilitate quick responses in emergencies.
