A tragic incident occurred this morning when a 55-year-old man lost his life following a fire in a commercial storage unit located above a Domino’s pizza shop on Oxford Street, Epping, in north-west Sydney. Emergency services received the call around 4:30 am and promptly arrived at the scene to combat the flames.

While firefighters were extinguishing the fire, they discovered the man trapped inside the unit and managed to rescue him from the inferno. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance provided immediate medical treatment at the location before transporting him to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical state. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and an investigation has been initiated by officers from the Ryde Police Area Command to assess the circumstances surrounding this incident. A report will be submitted to the coroner. Authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information to reach out to Ryde police or contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
