An investigation is currently underway following a tragic accident in northern New South Wales that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred around 3.50pm yesterday when a silver Ford Ranger ute overturned at the intersection of Elcombe Road and Royal Oak Road in Bangheet, located approximately 90 kilometres from Moree.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they successfully extracted a 56-year-old male passenger from the vehicle and commenced CPR efforts. Despite their attempts, the man unfortunately could not be revived.
The 47-year-old female driver sustained injuries and was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in stable condition. Fortunately, a nine-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman who were also in the vehicle emerged from the accident without injuries.
Authorities are seeking assistance in their investigation and would like to speak with the occupants of a green early-model dual-cab vehicle with a flat tray, which was seen heading north on Elcombe Road towards Gravesend.
Police are urging anyone who may have dashcam footage or relevant information regarding the crash to come forward and assist with the inquiry.
