A tragic incident in western Victoria has resulted in the death of a man after he was struck by a fallen tree.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene in Fermina, located approximately an hour from Mount Baw Baw, around 2pm. Paramedics faced significant challenges as they navigated through thick bushland and rough terrain to reach the victim, who was found trapped beneath the tree.
The man, reportedly in his twenties, sustained serious injuries and unfortunately succumbed to them at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with authorities unable to determine whether he was bushwalking or traversing the area by vehicle at the time of the accident.
