A man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a teacher whose remains were discovered in a wheelie bin. Stephen Fleming made this declaration in the Victorian Supreme Court, having initially been charged with the murder of Annette Brennan.
Brennan’s body was located by tip workers who were sorting through green waste at a facility in Epping on July 3, as previously reported in court. Fleming appeared for a sentence indication hearing, although the media was not permitted in the courtroom during this session.
During the brief hearing, no further details surrounding the manslaughter charge were disclosed. Justice Christopher Beale has since remanded Fleming in custody, scheduling a plea hearing for September. The defendant only spoke to register his guilty plea during the proceedings.
