A man is set to appear in court following allegations that he struck and killed a woman with his vehicle in western Sydney earlier this week. The incident occurred on Macquarie Avenue in Penrith, where police responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car that subsequently fled the scene.

Emergency services arrived to find a woman in her 60s, who required immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, paramedics were unable to resuscitate her. The victim has yet to be formally identified.

After a thorough investigation and a public appeal for information, a 20-year-old suspect was apprehended at a residence on Taloma Street in Penrith at approximately 10:40 PM the previous evening. Following his arrest, he was taken to St Mary’s police station, where he faced multiple charges, including dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving, among others.

The man has been denied bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court later today.
