A 44-year-old man named Mark Robert Williams has been arrested following a bomb threat at a fast food restaurant in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The incident, which took place just before 8pm on the previous evening, resulted in a swift and substantial police response, including the deployment of the bomb squad. Customers were evacuated in a scene that caused significant distress.
In court today, it was alleged that Williams threatened, “I’m going to bomb this place. I’m going to bomb everyone in here.” The situation escalated quickly, as police responded to the restaurant’s car park within minutes. CCTV footage captured the moment two officers apprehended Williams, who raised his hands in surrender.
Witness Tony Nastasi described the incident as frightening, recalling that authorities announced the bomb threat and proceeded with the evacuation. The bomb squad investigated a backpack left in the restaurant; fortunately, their examination concluded that no explosives were present.
Williams faces charges of intentionally creating a false belief that life was endangered and has been denied bail. The situation has raised concerns about public safety, highlighting the serious nature of such threats in a bustling community environment.
