A man has been charged following a violent incident stemming from a noise dispute between neighbours on the Gold Coast, which resulted in the stabbing of a father and son, along with another son suffering gunshot wounds.
Michael Barnes, aged 30, was apprehended at Palm Meadows. The altercation reportedly unfolded around 2 am on Monday inside a unit on Peninsula Drive, Surfers Paradise, involving a disagreement between a man and a woman. Neighbours intervened, which escalated the situation and prompted a police response.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old father who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his leg, neck, and head. His 21-year-old son had been shot twice in the abdomen, while a 23-year-old son incurred minor lacerations.
Barnes faces multiple charges, including grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and dangerous conduct with a weapon. He is expected to be presented in court today.
