A 21-year-old inmate in Sydney has been charged with involvement in a kidnapping and the theft of high-value luxury vehicles totalling over $800,000. The individual was apprehended at Silverwater jail around 9:20 am following allegations that he had been stealing cars to provide them to organised crime groups.

The investigation commenced on February 27 when police in North Parramatta observed three men fleeing from a vehicle while wearing balaclavas. Upon searching the car, authorities reportedly found mobile phones, duct tape, flexi cuffs, and a baseball bat. All three suspects have since been charged in connection with the kidnapping, and they continue to face legal proceedings.

In May, investigators linked the 21-year-old to the theft of a Haval vehicle intended for use in the kidnapping incident in Parramatta. Furthermore, in March, he was likewise implicated in the theft of luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley, with an estimated combined worth exceeding $800,000.

He faces multiple charges, including aggravated breaking and entering, grand theft exceeding $60,000, and operating a vehicle without consent. The accused was remanded in custody and made a court appearance at Parramatta Local Court yesterday, where proceedings are ongoing.
