A 66-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Duncan Campbell, a cherished grandfather, after he allegedly fatally attacked him with a steel pole on the New South Wales North Coast last year. Campbell, aged 58, was last seen on February 4 in Coffs Harbour and was reported missing days later. His body was discovered in bushland near a campsite on February 12, initially deemed non-suspicious until further investigation identified it as a homicide.

In response to the case, detectives sought public assistance, offering a $500,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The investigation culminated in the man’s arrest in Coffs Harbour on February 14, where police allege he bludgeoned Campbell to death between February 4 and 5.

The accused appeared before Coffs Harbour Local Court, where his bail was denied. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to resolve the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, bringing justice for the victim and his family.
