A 29-year-old man from Toodyay, Western Australia, is facing serious allegations after purportedly threatening a federal parliamentarian via social media. The Australian Federal Police executed a raid on his residence, where they conducted forensic examinations on multiple electronic devices and reportedly uncovered three cannabis plants alongside drug-related paraphernalia.
He has been charged with three counts of using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment. Additionally, he faces charges for possessing drug paraphernalia and for cultivating a prohibited plant. The alleged threats were said to have been made between November and December of the previous year.
The man has received conditional bail from WA Police and is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on March 12. The identity of the threatened parliamentarian and the specifics of the threats remain undisclosed by the authorities.
