A man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of a woman connected to an alleged domestic violence incident in the remote Mowanjum Aboriginal community in Western Australia on Easter Sunday.
Emergency services were alerted to a property on Fourth Street around 7:45 am on Sunday, where they discovered a 39-year-old woman unresponsive. Despite being rushed to Derby Hospital, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities allege that the victim sustained injuries due to an assault by a 38-year-old man known to her, marking this incident as a case of domestic violence. The man was apprehended at the scene and is accused of violating a domestic violence order that was in effect for 72 hours, as well as breaking protective bail conditions.
He faces charges including murder, breaching a police order, and violating protective bail terms. The accused is scheduled to appear in Derby Magistrates Court today to respond to these allegations.
