A man aged 41 is facing serious allegations after reportedly attacking a 35-year-old woman in Glenroy yesterday morning. According to police, the incident occurred around 6:40 am outside a residence on View Street, where the man is accused of throwing a flammable substance over the woman before igniting it, resulting in severe injuries.
The woman was promptly transported to a hospital, where she is currently in a critical but stable condition, fighting for her life. Following the incident, the Glenroy man was apprehended at the scene and has since been charged with attempted murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 7. It is noted that the two individuals involved are known to one another, adding further complexity to the situation.
