A man has been arrested following an incident in which a delivery rider was stabbed in Ultimo, Sydney. Emergency services responded to the scene on Mary Ann Street around 9:15 pm on Monday, August 18, where they found a 24-year-old rider who had been attacked. According to reports, the assailant pushed the victim off his bike and then stabbed him multiple times with a screwdriver before fleeing the area.
The delivery rider sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
On Tuesday afternoon, police apprehended a 31-year-old suspect on Pyrmont Street, Camperdown. Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a nearby unit, recovering a screwdriver believed to be involved in the attack for forensic analysis.
The suspect has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
