A 48-year-old man from New South Wales has been arrested at Sydney Airport on several charges, including obscene exposure. The incident occurred as he was preparing to board an international flight, leading airport staff to alert the police.

When approached by members of the public, the individual attempted to flee the scene and exit the departure area. However, he was intercepted by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers, followed by a subsequent arrest by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

Upon further investigation, authorities allegedly discovered child abuse material on his mobile phone. They are also scrutinising his two laptops and a hard drive for additional evidence.

The man is set to appear in Parramatta Local Court, facing charges of possessing child abuse material and committing obscene exposure in a public place. If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

AFP Detective Acting Inspector Trevor Robinson emphasised that passengers who violate the law will face consequences, insisting that all travellers have the right to feel safe in airports. He assured that the AFP is committed to safeguarding the public from criminal activities in these environments.
