A 37-year-old man has been charged following the alleged robbery and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl near Lidcombe Station in Sydney’s west over the weekend. According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday morning when the man engaged the teenager before leading her to a nearby car park.
It’s reported that he brandished a knife and stole her phone, after which he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The girl managed to escape, prompting a thorough search that led to the man’s arrest at a residence in Newtown the following day.
He now faces serious charges, including aggravated sexual assault of a minor and armed robbery. Currently, he is being held at Newtown Police Station, where bail has been denied. He is slated to appear in Newtown Local Court later today. The police have underscored the severity of the allegations and are continuing their investigations into the matter.
