A 20-year-old man from Gunnedah, NSW, has been charged with the murder of a four-month-old baby. The infant’s tragic death occurred in January in Tamworth. On January 20, the baby was initially taken to Gunnedah Hospital before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where he succumbed the next day.

The arrest followed a coordinated investigation by detectives from both the Oxley Police District and the State Crime Command’s homicide and child abuse squads. The man was detained in Tamworth at approximately 8:45 am yesterday and subsequently taken to Tamworth Police Station, where he was charged with murder in a domestic violence context.

He has been denied bail overnight and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today.
