Australia’s leading food and beverage retailers are being urged to withdraw a specific soft drink from their stock following a nationwide recall. The Strangelove Beverage Company has announced the recall of its ‘Salted Grapefruit by Strangelove’ beverage available in both 180ml and 540ml bottles. These products have been sold across various retailers including Coles, Woolworths, Dan Murphys, BWS, First Choice, Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, and other independent outlets.
The company has identified products with specific Best Before dates that need to be removed: 180ml bottles with dates of 23/05/2026 and 31/07/2026, and 540ml bottles with dates of 05/01/2026, 09/02/2026, 19/03/2026, 04/05/2026, and 29/05/2026.
The recall is attributed to unintended fermentation of the drink, which could result in elevated levels of alcohol and carbonation. This unexpected fermentation poses risks such as potential bottle breakage or the caps popping off, along with the possibility of causing illness or injury to consumers.
Customers who possess these drinks are advised against consuming or opening them and are urged to dispose of them safely. In case of any health concerns related to the consumption of these beverages, consumers should seek medical attention.
