Major Delays Following Motorcycle Collision on Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge

Significant traffic disruptions are currently affecting motorists on the West Gate Freeway, with four of the five outbound lanes closed just prior to the Williamstown Road exit. As a result, delays are expected to extend up to 55 minutes, with congestion reported back to the Bolte Bridge.

Road users departing the Central Business District (CBD) are advised to take alternative routes. Recommended detours include passing through Footscray via Footscray or Dynon roads, and then utilising Williamstown Road, Millers Road, or Geelong Road to rejoin the freeway.

Additionally, those travelling from the south-eastern suburbs might want to consider re-routing north of the CBD to circumvent the heavy traffic on the West Gate Freeway.

Victoria Police has been contacted for further information on the situation.
