A London artist, Sebastian Chaumeton, stumbled upon a hidden space in his bedroom after discovering an unusual piece of wood on the floor. In a revealing video shared with his 26,000 Instagram followers, he noted, “It’s a small bit of wood going the wrong way,” which piqued his curiosity.
Determined to explore further, Chaumeton moved his bed aside and prepared his tools to investigate. He narrated his process of cutting a hole into the wall, and to his surprise, uncovered an old fireplace. The moment was documented on camera as he sauntered through the large gap he created, revealing the long-concealed tiled fireplace behind.
As he continued his exploration, he used a vacuum cleaner to clear out decades’ worth of dust, making some intriguing finds – three Chupa Chups, a bouncy ball, and a bone. Despite the odd assortment, he joked about not wanting to dwell on the mystery of these items.
Chaumeton, who is sharing his DIY journey online, intends to transform this newfound space into a wardrobe. While he plans to seal off the fireplace, he is keen to repurpose the tiles for a future mosaic project. In a nod to the house’s history, he even placed an old pound coin back into the fireplace, saying it was to “appease the house spirits.”
