Logan Paul recently disclosed that he attempted to contact UFC President Dana White last year to explore a possible fight but received no response. Known for his controversial presence as a YouTuber, boxer, and professional wrestler, Paul has long voiced his interest in venturing into MMA. However, his ambitions have yet to materialise.
Taking a bold approach, Paul reached out to White directly to express his availability for a fight, particularly on the undercard of an event at the new Sphere arena in Las Vegas. Despite his willingness, White’s silence on the matter was telling, leading Paul to feel that his MMA aspirations might not come to fruition anytime soon.
In a conversation on his podcast Impaulsive, Paul lamented the lack of communication, suggesting that it speaks volumes about his chances. He expressed that he wouldn’t hesitate to fight for the right opponent and the right financial incentive, emphasising that at heart, he is an entertainer.
Paul’s combat sports résumé includes two professional boxing matches—one loss to KSI and a victory over Dillon Danis—as well as an eight-round exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather. Additionally, he has a background in amateur wrestling, having competed in high school.
With his UFC desires currently sidelined, Paul posits that White’s refusal may be linked to the notorious experience of his WWE rival, CM Punk. Punk, who made the leap to the UFC in 2016, faced defeat in both of his matches, which Paul believes may have soured White on the idea of partnering with another wrestling crossover.
"He messed it up," Paul said of Punk’s UFC venture. He believes that White’s reaction was one of reluctance to repeat the experience, asserting that he differs significantly from Punk, who, while a talented wrestler, did not excel as an MMA fighter. Paul is confident in his ability, claiming, “I think I would be a much better UFC fighter than I would just a boxer.”
In summary, Paul remains keen on making a name for himself in MMA, but his recent attempts have not yielded any serious opportunities, leaving him pondering his next moves in the world of combat sports.
