A woman had a harrowing encounter on the Gold Coast when she confronted a burglar who had broken into her Ashmore home and stolen her vehicle. The incident occurred around 11.30pm on Kootingal Street, where police believe a group of five individuals wearing balaclavas entered the property.
Upon noticing the front door opening, the 53-year-old resident woke up and discovered a man inside her 2021 blue Porsche Macan. She bravely confronted him, which led to a violent altercation. As she attempted to regain control of her car by opening the driver’s door, the man assaulted her and reversed the Porsche, dragging her briefly along the grass median strip as he fled the scene.
The woman sustained grazes and bruises and was subsequently transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where her condition was stabilised. In addition to the stolen Porsche, police indicated that another vehicle, a 2018 black Land Rover Discovery, was taken from the residence during the break-in.
Approximately an hour later, authorities found a 2016 silver Hyundai Santa Fe abandoned on Ashmore Road. This vehicle had been reported stolen earlier from Kerala Court in Mudgeeraba. Police believe the offenders used this car to arrive at the robbery scene. They also discovered a white Range Rover in the vicinity.
The stolen Porsche was sighted shortly after midnight on the Pacific Motorway near Pimpama, where it managed to evade police pursuit. Authorities are now requesting anyone with relevant dash-cam footage, CCTV, or other video evidence from the Ashmore area around the time of the crime to come forward, as they continue their investigation into this alarming incident.
