The South Australian government’s initiative to hold the Sheffield Shield final at the Adelaide Oval has been rejected. On Friday, Cricket Australia confirmed that the crucial five-day match will instead take place at Karen Rolton Oval.

This decision follows discussions involving the SA government, Cricket Australia, and the AFL regarding the scheduling of the match in the context of coinciding events—a Port Adelaide round-one match against Richmond on Saturday, March 22, and Adelaide’s week-three game against North Melbourne the following Sunday.

Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer, Todd Greenberg, expressed disappointment at the inability to host the final at the Adelaide Oval, underscoring the importance of such events in promoting cricket in South Australia.

Further updates on the situation are anticipated.
