Explosions were heard throughout Tehran, Iran’s capital, as Israel confirmed it was conducting offensive operations against the country. Residents were startled awake by the blasts, which were later acknowledged by state media.
In response to this escalation, Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, declared a “special situation” within Israel. He warned that following the preemptive strike against Iran, retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and its civilian population were anticipated imminently.
As a precautionary measure, Katz announced that all schools would be closed on Friday. There has yet to be any specific information regarding the targets of the strikes or the extent of the damage caused.
