A tragic car accident occurred on Monday afternoon in Brooloo, situated approximately 40 kilometres from Noosa. The incident involved a Suzuki sedan that collided violently with a tree at the intersection of Callemonda Road and Mary Valley Road around 2pm.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a deceased man in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and a woman seated in the back. The 61-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was subsequently airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for emergency treatment.
Later that day, detectives from the Nambour criminal investigation branch apprehended the driver, who was then placed under police guard at the hospital, where he remained as of early the following morning.
Authorities have issued a call for witnesses, particularly those with dash cam footage or any relevant information regarding the incident, to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
