Authorities have initiated an investigation following a physical altercation between two mothers in Perth’s northern suburbs. The incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement involving their children, students at Aveley Secondary College, and was captured on CCTV.

The video shows a chaotic scene where one mother lost her glasses and a mobile phone was thrown against a wall. The confrontation escalated as both women fell, grasping at each other’s hair. After a brief separation, the scuffle resumed, prompted by a schoolboy’s intervention. The brawl took place at Melissa’s residence in The Vines during November, leaving her with facial injuries and missing hair. She described the experience as frightening and shocking, particularly occurring in her own home.

The escalating tensions surrounding the children, set against a backdrop of rising youth crime in the Ellenbrook suburb, have raised concerns. This year alone, there have been disturbing incidents at Aveley Secondary College, including a 14-year-old sustaining a broken jaw in a shopping centre attack, and another student losing his front teeth in an assault in a toilet block.

The other mother involved in the altercation has opted not to speak publicly but contended that she was the initial victim of aggression. Reports indicate she was employed at a nearby school during the clash. A spokesperson for the Department of Education has emphasised that they treat allegations of inappropriate conduct among staff with utmost seriousness.

Support services are available for those affected, with Lifeline and Kids Helpline offering assistance.
