A critical incident has been declared following the death of a man while emergency services attempted to sedate him, as stated by New South Wales police. The incident occurred early this morning at a unit complex located on Pitt Street in Waterloo, where emergency responders were called around 2 am due to concerns for the wellbeing of a 45-year-old man.
Upon arrival, paramedics and police initiated attempts to sedate the man after he lost consciousness. Despite their efforts to revive him, he was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
In response to the incident, a critical incident investigation team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad has been assigned to examine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. A crime scene has been established to facilitate this investigation.
Moreover, the inquiry will undergo an independent review conducted by the Professional Standards Command, with oversight from the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission, ensuring transparency and accountability in the investigative processes.
