A tragic incident in the suburb of Para Hills, Adelaide, resulted in the death of 60-year-old Debbie Dennert, who became trapped between her car and her house. Emergency services responded to calls late in the evening regarding the accident, which occurred at the bottom of a steep driveway.

Residents of Lynore Street are in shock as they deal with the loss of Dennert, a grandmother and a valued community member. Neighbour Kevin Clarke recounted how he and another resident alerted authorities shortly before 8pm, witnessing the urgent attempts to free her from the vehicle. Despite the swift arrival of police and the fire brigade, efforts to extricate her were met with challenges as her Toyota Kluger was wedged against the house.

Clarke, who attempted to comfort Debbie during the ordeal, stated they encouraged her to keep talking while waiting for help. Unfortunately, despite the paramedics’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement filled with grief, Debbie’s husband expressed his sorrow, saying, “The love of my life and loving wife Debbie grew her wings.” He shared his heartbreak for their three children, their partners, and their grandchildren, and noted that they were about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an overseas trip. Clarke highlighted the couple’s plans for a holiday that was just weeks away.

Debbie is remembered fondly by friends and neighbours, described by Clarke as “a really genuine and lovely person.” He shared that she often exchanged fruits and flowers with his wife, illustrating the warmth she brought to her relationships and the community.

Authorities are investigating the incident and preparing a report for the coroner, as the neighbourhood grapples with this heartbreaking event.
