Michael Voss, the head coach of Carlton, is disregarding the chatter surrounding his future at the club, asserting that the entire team remains “aligned” for the current season. Following a challenging start, with only one win in four matches, pressure from fans is escalating as they demand immediate improvement.

Despite the mounting scrutiny over his capacity to rejuvenate the team’s performance, Voss remains steadfast and focused on the task at hand. “I don’t pay any attention to it,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to maximising the team’s potential and providing unwavering support.

Carlton’s struggles are evident, as the team has only led in one out of eight quarters before half-time and has faltered in closing out games where they held solid leads. Acknowledging that poor statistics inevitably attract criticism, Voss accepts the scrutiny that follows disappointing results. “We’re not winning, so obviously you expect some level of scrutiny,” he remarked, while reflecting on the nature of performance in high-stakes environments.

Voss believes it’s crucial for the team to remain focused during adversity and execute under pressure, stating, “The key part is doing it when it’s getting tougher.” He acknowledges that while positive moments exist, continuous performance improvement is essential throughout the game.

Despite the struggles, Voss insists he feels no disconnect from his team, the club, or its supporters. Instead, he highlights a collective dissatisfaction with their current standing, affirming, “Where we’re aligned on is we’re not happy with where we’re at.”

Looking ahead, the Blues are set to face Adelaide in the opening match of Gather Round on Thursday, with a pressing need to turn their season around.
