An iconic establishment in Brisbane’s CBD, the Hilton Brisbane, is set to close after nearly 40 years of service. The announcement on the hotel’s official website confirmed that operations will cease at midnight on April 1, 2025.
The hotel’s fate became uncertain last year when it stopped accepting bookings beginning in September. According to management, the closure is a result of “routine lease negotiations.” Discussions suggest that the hotel is planning a substantial refurbishment scheduled for next year.
Initially opened in 1987, the Hilton Brisbane has been a hallmark of luxury accommodation in the city. A significant refurbishment costing $37 million was completed over a decade ago to maintain its standard.
While it remains to be seen what the future holds for the site, the closure marks the end of an era for both the hotel and its many patrons. The Hilton Brisbane has not yet issued a public comment regarding this transition.
