Tasti, a well-known health food company, has announced a product recall due to the potential presence of “very fine metal wire” in several batches of its Tasti Smooshed wholefood balls. The affected flavours include peanut butter and caramel (69g), peanut caramel (207g), berry cashew and cacao (69g), cacao brownie (69g), cacao brownie tub (207g), protein dark cacao brownie tub (174g), and protein raspberry brownie tub (174g).
These products were available for purchase at Woolworths and Coles, both in-store and online. The recall applies to various best-before dates, with specific dates listed for each flavour, ranging from May to August 2026.
In their statement, Tasti explained that the metal wire was identified as potentially coming from imported raw materials. Although the company employs metal detection processes prior to releasing products, the fine nature of this particular wire means it might not always be detected.
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected items are advised to dispose of them if they fall within the specified best-before date range. Tasti encourages anyone who has consumed the products and has health concerns to consult their nearest medical centre.
To facilitate a smooth recall process, customers can take a photo of the product, showing the best-before date, and email it to tasti@tasti.co.nz to receive a replacement voucher. Tasti assures consumers that the remainder of its product range is safe to consume.
The company expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused and thanked its customers for their understanding during this precautionary measure.
