Iconic Australian rock band The Angels have been honoured with a laneway named after them in their hometown of Adelaide. “The Angels Lane,” located just off Hindley Street in the city centre, was officially unveiled to recognise the band’s significant influence on Australian music.

Nestled behind the Hindley Street Music Hall, The Angels Lane is visually enriched with two murals that lead visitors toward the western part of the city. Guitarist John Brewster expressed immense gratitude for the recognition, stating that they were “blown away” by the gesture.

The band has left a lasting mark on the Australian music scene, particularly with their timeless anthem, “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again,” which was recently ranked the 12th greatest Australian song of all time in Triple J’s Hottest 100. Brewster reflected on the song’s humble beginnings as their first single, which initially seemed inconspicuous but has since gained tremendous significance.

The Angels Lane joins the ranks of other prominent Australian musicians who have been similarly honoured in Adelaide, including Paul Kelly, Cold Chisel, Sia, and No Fixed Address. The unveiling of the lane stands as a tribute to the band’s enduring legacy and contribution to the rich tapestry of Australian music history.
