Jake Paul has maintained his momentum in boxing following a lackluster fight from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. After securing a victory by unanimous decision with scores of 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92, Paul made headlines by calling out several prominent opponents.

This match marked Paul’s return to the ring since his notable win over Mike Tyson in November. Throughout the fight, Chavez Jr struggled, barely landing any significant hits, while his father, boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Snr, was visibly frustrated from the audience.

Despite complaining about low hits during the bout, Chavez Jr received little sympathy from the referee. Though he displayed some improvement by the eighth round, it proved too little, too late. The Mexican fighter’s last win came in July 2024 against Uriah Hall, prior to which he hadn’t fought since 2021.

Following his victory, Paul extended his record to 12 wins and has now achieved a six-fight winning streak. His recent success has reportedly placed him on track for promotion in the WBA cruiserweight rankings.

In a post-fight interview, Paul expressed his desire to face tougher competition, specifically calling out Zurdo Ramirez, who previously defended his WBA and WBO titles against Yuniel Dorticos. Paul dismissed Ramirez’s performance, stating, “Zurdo looked slow as shit tonight. That’d be easy work.” He also mentioned other notable fighters, including Badou Jack, Anthony Joshua, Gervonta Davis, and Tommy Fury, urging them to step up and face him.

“I’m just getting warmed up in this sport. I’m ready and will fight anyone, anytime, anywhere,” said Paul, showcasing his eagerness to remain active in the sport.

Conversely, Chavez Jr, reflecting on the fight, admitted he felt he lost the early rounds and noted Paul’s strength in the initial stage of the match. However, he expressed doubt regarding Paul’s readiness to compete at the championship level, stating, “I don’t think he’s ready for the champions, but he’s a good fighter.”

As the boxing world watches closely, Paul’s ambitious plans and Chavez Jr’s critiques highlight the ongoing drama and competitiveness of the boxing landscape.
