A recent incident involving a Qantas flight has left numerous passengers stranded in Azerbaijan. The Airbus A380, originally en route from London to Singapore, had to divert due to a medical emergency on board.

A Qantas spokesperson confirmed that the London to Singapore service diverted to Baku, apologising for the inconvenience and assuring customers that efforts are being made to continue their journey to Singapore as swiftly as possible. Fortunately, the situation did not require an emergency landing, and the aircraft itself was not facing any mechanical issues.

However, the diversion resulted in the flight crew reaching their maximum duty time, which prevented the flight from continuing. The plane, previously scheduled for routine maintenance in Singapore, will now undergo necessary checks in Baku, necessitating the arrival of a specialist A380 engineer from London.

To assist affected passengers, Qantas is reportedly arranging overnight accommodation for them. The aircraft is anticipated to resume its journey to Singapore on Tuesday, September 10, according to the local time in Baku.
