The WA Liberals have pledged to publicly name prisoners who escape if they are elected on March 8, as announced by party leader Libby Mettam. She expressed concerns over the current Cook Labor Government’s handling of dangerous inmates, asserting that the community expects such individuals to remain incarcerated. Mettam stated that within the first 100 days of a Liberal government, there would be a review of the Prisoners Review Board.
In contrast, the Labor party is concentrating on housing affordability, a pressing issue for many residents in Western Australia. Their housing initiatives include revitalising the Keystart program, in which the state would retain 35 per cent ownership of each property purchased off-the-plan, aimed at assisting first-time homebuyers with low deposits. As the election approaches, the two parties are presenting divergent priorities, highlighting crime management and housing policy as key focal points for voters.
