A white Holden Commodore was involved in a serious three-car accident near Goolwa, South Australia, following a reckless display of speeding. Police clocked the vehicle travelling at an alarming 146 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Port Elliot Road. When officers turned on their lights and sirens, the Commodore’s driver made a U-turn, leading authorities to halt the pursuit over safety concerns.
Shortly after the police ceased chasing the speeding car, it was found battered in a crash at Middleton. The 41-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital with significant injuries and is facing several driving charges. Among the other involved parties, a 65-year-old woman from Goolwa South was injured when her Land Rover rolled due to the impact; fortunately, a third driver emerged unhurt.
Local residents expressed their shock over the incident. Duncan Chamberlain labelled the speeding behaviour as “extreme silliness,” while fellow community member Debbi stated that the unfolding events felt inevitable. She remarked on the awareness of the perilous situation, asserting the concerns for innocent road users.
The police continue to investigate the factors leading up to the accident, as the community grapples with the ramifications of such reckless driving behaviour.
